The request should identify or describe the records sought with sufficient specificity to enable the Intermediate Unit to ascertain which records are being requested; the request shall also include a name and address or email address to which the Intermediate Unit should address its response. After filing a request, a response will be issued within 5 business days.

Copies and Postage Fees follow the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records RTKL Fee Schedule. The Intermediate Unit may require a requester to prepay an estimate of the fees listed if the fees required to fulfill the request are expected to exceed $100. All costs must be paid by certified check or money order made payable to Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8.

Filing an Appeal: When a request is denied or deemed denial, a requester may file an appeal to the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records. The appeal must be filed within 15 business days of the denial or deemed denial date. The appeal must also include the request, agency denial if one exists, address agency grounds that the request was denied, and state why you believe the records are public records. An appeals officer will determine if the record(s) is subject to public access. An appeal may be filed to the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records at this website.
